Jesper has grown into his dream job

Jesper Brølling began as a blacksmith at BSB Industry in 2013. Through continuing education and a series of vocational training courses, he has step by step furthered his career to the point where he now holds the position as inspector for non-destructive testing (NDT) and welding coordinator at BSB Industry.

Education is a gain for both quality and the economy

As he started out at BSB, Jesper Brølling was mainly busy at building welded steel constructions for the wind industry. But aided by his forging education and experience as a certified welder, he quickly expanded his area of responsibility.

- When test and consulting firms such as Nordisk Svejse Kontrol and Force Technology visited to inspect our welding performance, I stayed close with them and offered a helping hand whenever needed. For example, there were often minor repairs I could do right away, Jesper Brølling remembers.

Education is good for both quality and profits

It did not take long before BSB owners Benny and Bjarne Elneff spotted Jesper Brølling's talent for quality and documentation and asked if he was interested in educating himself in the field.

- It is quite costly to have external inspection come by. Sometimes we had 2-3 inspectors here who spent many working hours with us. That translated into a big figure on the expense account, so even though the company has spent quite a lot of resources on my continuing education courses, it has turned out to be a significant gain for them in the long term, says Jesper Brølling.

But the company’s investment in continuing training and education of employees like Jesper Brølling also has other and more important benefits than cost savings. This is emphasized by partner and COO Bjarne Elneff.

- For BSB, documenting quality plays a crucial role when we deliver welded constructions to, for instance, the wind industry. With Jesper on our team, we have access to the kind of knowhow that can ensure that customers get the exact right quality and the precise documentation they ask for. This is critical to us, Bjarne Elneff explains and points to another important reason why the company is pleased to invest in its employees.

- At BSB, all our efforts aim at us being a dependable and attractive workplace. We believe that by investing in our employees we set the conditions for mutual loyalty and retaining skilled and valuable employees for many years. Jesper is a great example of us succeeding with that strategy, says Bjarne Elneff.

So it's up to you getting off your butt if you really want to improve your skills and get more responsibility in the workplace, says Jesper Brølling, who is happy to have found his dream job at BSB.

- I can say from experience that BSB is just a damn good workplace with exciting work assignments and good colleagues. I have a high degree of freedom and flexibility in my job. If I need to go somewhere it’s easy for me to take a day off. But if BSB asks me to come check a particular construction in the middle of the night, I'll be there in a second, because respect, freedom and flexibility on the job go both ways, emphasizes Jesper Brølling, NDT inspector and welding coordinator at BSB.
